dear imaginary readers:
i’m away on a writing retreat, writing fast, and it’s good, but i’m tired. bursts of writing definitely work, but they come at an emotional cost. i’ve got the day 4 slump BAD.
i managed to finish a clean copy of a new story and will send it off shortly, and i’ve taken a long, hard look at a novel. friends, it needs a lot of work–that’s code for the manuscript is a fucking mess. for example, i hauled out the 3-binder system and discovered:
1. numerous sticky notes with indecipherable or weird things scribbled on them. like “don’t forget the eyelids” and “father”. WTF?
2. i don’t understand the 3-binder system i set up last year, at least i don’t think i understand it, or maybe it doesn’t make sense? maybe i don’t make sense?
send help.
