in the face of COVID winter, i started a book club for writers. it’s something many writers yearn for–a comfortable place to drop into analysis and symbols and flights of word fantasy with others who truly UNDERSTAND. it’s like talking shorthand.
anyway, the first book is SING, UNBURIED, SING by Jesmyn Ward, a book from 2017 that also won the National Book Award. it’s a fine book. i hope the writers enjoy it as much as i did.
run on the same principles as an AA meeting, we’ll go one at a time in the round and discuss a couple of things about the book that stuck out. that’s it, nothing fancy. i think communing around a book is restorative, don’t you?
