10 things i want to write

  1. a speech for each of my kids weddings.
  2. a story that features Cheap Trick’s song ‘I want you to want me’.  i’ll set it at a house party on CPR Hill with a view out over Shuswap Lake.
  3. a story about a brave red-headed boy who pulls the driver out of a brand new cadillac that spontaneously bursts into flames. an electrical fire.  i’m thinking bad wiring from the factory.
  4. a book about a guy named Blank, an investment banker, who lives in Hong Kong.  it involves an insider trading scam.
  5. an 8-course menu for my 30th wedding anniversary.
  6. a murder mystery set in Southern Alberta, down along Hwy. 22, where the wind blows straight through a person.
  7. one poem.  one fucking poem.  is that too much to ask?
  8. my obituary.  “she was impatient by nature and a chronic interrupter. she enjoyed a gin tonic.  once, a 4-year-old boy reduced her to tears when he refused to put his boots on. her memory was poor.” that sort of thing.
  9. a story about a woman from Chicago.
  10. a screenplay.
